JD Sports acquires Originals Clothing

Menswear brand Originals Clothing has been bought by JD Sports

JD acquired the 6-store retailer after it went into administration. The Northwest-based company was founded 25 years ago and has stores in Blackburn and Preston. It currently stocks brands including Paul Smith and Lacoste.

According to sources there were no layoffs and all existing employees will stay with the company.

The acquisition is the latest in a line of deals for JD Sports, which recently bought outdoor retailer Blacks Leisure. It has also set up a joint venture with agency Fourmarketing, owner of indie Oki-ni, to create a menswear retail concept.
