Sports fashion retailer JD Sports announced on twitter

last Friday that it will soon stock the Star In The Hood clothing range created and designed by chart-topping British rapper Tinchy Stryder.

The Star In The Hood clothing company has come a long way from the streets of Bow in East London to establishing itself as a credible fashion brand. It was only just last year when the rapper penned a deal with Apple and Gold Genie to design a limited series of signature Star In The Hood iPods for sale online and in the luxury department store Harrods.

The collaboration with the sports retailer marks another great step forward for the Star In The Hood clothing line and, at this stage, it is hard not to draw a comparison with lifestyle brand Rocawear - co-created by American rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z. Despite its humble beginnings, Rocawear is now a dominant lifestyle apparel brand for a wide range of customers with record millions in annual retail sales.

The UK rapper, who releases his single 'Second Chance' on 1 November 2010, offered some indication of what to expect from the brand this year, saying on his website: "Star in the Hood Clothing Company are excited by the retail partnerships in place, and the opportunities to grow the brand throughout UK and International retail in 2010 and beyond."
