Former Dior creative director John Galliano is returning to the spotlight as creative director of Russian perfumery

 chain L’Etoile later this month.

The fashion designer, who was in talks with Oscar de la Renta to take a permanent role in his atelier until last month, has been working as a consultant on beauty projects for the Russian perfume brand for the last few months.

L'Etoile broke the news by posting a newspaper-style announcement on its website stating: "John is back!” which was followed by official confirmation from Galliano's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg.

The perfumery chain is the largest in Russia, with 750 stores carrying 150 prestige brands such as Chanel, Guerlain and Christian Dior. Galliano’s exact role has yet to be confirmed, but this will mark the designer’s first permanent position since he was dismissed as creative director of Dior in 2010 following an anti-Semitic tirade at a Paris bar.

According to reports Galliano will take up his new position on May 22 and will be taking a lead role with regards L’Etoile’s eponymous brand.
