For spring/summer 2012, John Lewis is launching a

brand new private womenswear collection, JL Weekend. The label features more than 80 pieces from cotton t-shirts to cashmere cardigans, and leather tote bags, with prices starting from £20.

The collection launches in all stores in February and has been created by the John Lewis design team, taking influences from ‘French chic and preppy US style’ to create a line filled with versatile weekend wardrobe staples.

Cottons and denim provides the foundation for the line, with a variety of coloured jeans, pastel cotton shirts and a large selection of marl jersey. Highlights include a broderie anglaise cotton dress in scorched orange, a pair of peg leg beige chinos, slouchy Breton tops, navy cotton dresses, and a chain knit cardigan in navy and cream.

Jo Hooper, Head of Womenswear buying at John Lewis says, “This line is all about easy outfit building; mixing and matching quality pieces and on trend colours to create a stylish, pared down summer wardrobe encompassing everything from dresses and separates, to shoes and accessories. The aim was to create stylish, fashion led casuals that the JL woman would feel confident in, and have fun picking out. JL Weekend is about leaving the office behind”.

As well as clothing the collection will also feature scarves, handbags and footwear.
