Johnstons of Elgin names new chief executive

Scottish cashmere and woollen specialists Johnstons

of Elgin has appointed Simon Cotton as chief executive.

Joining this month, Cotton, who was previously divisional managing director at Swiss industrial manufacturing conglomerate Franke, will replace group managing director James Dracup, who left  earlier this year.

Johnstons of Elgin chairman Ian Urquhart said: "Following a challenging year in 2012 the business performance has stabilised in 2013 and we look forward to Simon helping us return to growth in 2014 and beyond.

“His experience of leadership in an international manufacturing business combined with marketing and business development skills are a great fit for us.”

Chris Gaffney, who stepped into Dracup’s role on an interim basis, will return to his role as financial director.
