Jones Group acquires Brian Atwood

US fashion company The Jones Group has taken a majority stake in the luxury shoe brand Brian

Atwood. Jones was already a license holder of the footwear designer's B Brian Atwood line, which was launched last year.

Jones and Atwood are forming a joint venture which owns the brand's intellectual property rights as well as its existing licenses. In the meantime, Atwood will retain a minority share in his eponymous company. He will continue to be responsible for the brand's creative processes, including its image and branding.

Brian Atwood footwear has a significant celebrity following, including such big names as Victoria Beckham. Atwood told WWD that he is planning on expanding his product offering to include other categories such as a more extensive bag collection and even apparel. "Anything that fits and makes sense brand. There are really no limits."
