Women's fashion retailer Karen Millen has

appointed Sian Hession as its global retail operations director. Hession will join the retailer in the newly created role this week and will report to managing director Gemma Metheringham.

In her new role, Hession will spearheading a new strategic initiative to define and deliver the global Karen Millen brand experience across 40 ‘showcase’ stores in key cities across the world, including London’s Regent Street, New York City, LA and Moscow, as well as the brand’s website. The initiative aims to increase the contribution these showcase stores make to Karen Millen sales and will encompass the complete multi-channel experience, from visual merchandising to the in-store experience and online engagement.

Hession, a leading retail consultant who specialises in working with multi-channel international brands, joins Karen Millen with more than 25 years experience working with brands including Coast and Long Tall Sally, and most recently Damsel in a Dress, Aspinal of London and Boden.

Gemma Metheringham, Joint Managing Director of Karen Millen, said: “We’re delighted to further strengthen our senior management team with the appointment of someone of Sian’s calibre and experience.  The fact that we’re able to attract the best talent in the industry is testament to the scale and success of the Karen Millen brand and the growth opportunities ahead.  We’re excited to welcome her on board.”
