Karl Lagerfeld collaborating with Melissa

Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld is embarking on another

collaboration, this time with eco-friendly Brazilian plastic footwear brand Melissa.

Lagerfeld has signed up to design four collections over the next four seasons, with the first range for autumn/winter 2013 being unveiled in March.

Footwear brand Melissa known for its colourful plastic jelly shoes and designer tie-ups, have previously worked with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Jason Wu, Gareth Pugh, and Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio.

Commenting on the collaboration, Paulo Pedó, the CEO for Melissa, said: "In one of the most exciting collaborations the company has seen, Karl Lagerfeld the most iconic designers of the 21st Century, has extended his fashion reign into our world of Melissa.

"Karl's design talent synonymous with couture has been translated into footwear, bridging the gap between high-end and commercial, extending our customer base and making his name accessible for all."

This is the latest collaboration for Lagerfeld, in the past the designer has created ranges for H&M, Net-A-Porter, and Macy’s in America.
