Fashion designer Kate Fearnley, winner of Cosmopolitan’s Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year award,

has opened a shop-in-shop in Middlesbrough indie, Psyche. The opening follows the launch of the store’s womenswear department last year and coincides with Fearnley’s ten-year anniversary and Psyche’s 30th year of delivering high-end collections.

The section was opened last week with a live show featuring models wearing a selection of outfits from the collection, and will be the only place to buy Fearnley’s ready-to-wear collection as the partnership is allowing the Kate Fearnley boutique to become purely appointment only due to the increase business for bespoke prom, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses.

“This partnership has been a long time in discussion,” said Fearnley. “We were becoming so busy with appointments at our boutique, that we were overlooking the ladies just wanting to shop! This arrangement lets the ladies go to Psyche where everything is under one roof and gives me the chance to concentrate on the bespoke side of the business.”

Kate Fearnley set up her label in 2002 with the help of the Prince’s Trust and her Middlesbrough boutique opened three years later. The label has a number of celebrity fans including Alexandra Burke, Sarah Harding, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Pixie Lott.
