Kenta Matsushige wins at Hyères Festival 2014

Japanese designer Kenta Matsushige has been awarded the Grand Prix du Jury
Première Vision at this year’s Hyères International Festival of Fashion & Photography for his Hinabi womenswear collection, inspired by the architecture of Japanese museums.Selected by a jury led by Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Matsushige took top honours from a shortlist of 10 other young designers, who have all showcased their work during the 29th Hyères Festival.
Matsushige, a graduate from the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, wins a 15,000 euro grant, the chance to work with the French Ateliers des Métiers d'Art artisan organisation, as well as being given the opportunity to present a new collection at the next Hyères Fashion Festival.
The jury also awarded the Prix Public de la Ville d’Hyères to French designer Coralie Marabelle and highly commended Yulia Yefimtchuk from Ukraine. While official festival partner Chloé awarded two prizes to Liselore Frowijn and Roshi Porkar for their interpretations of the modern Chloé woman.
