Dutch fashion search engine, Kleding.nl launched a British version of its website
earlier this week, following the success of its Germany website.Known as Fashiola, the international fashion search engine offers over 3 million products from 500 online stores, with 180 of the webshops including British labels and retailers such as Stella McCartney, Dune London, House of Fraser and Coast.
"We’re excited to have arrived to the UK and into such a strong online fashion market,” commented Peter Langenkamp, managing director of Fashiola. “We believe that there is a great demand here for our service and commitment to providing a fast, easy and unique shopping experience.”
“The strength of our brand is evident in our fantastic fashion brand partners in the UK. There are thousands of online fashion shops, but how are shoppers able to search for a particular piece of clothing quickly online? We have solved this problem by giving a complete overview of all brands, prices, styles and availability of the goods in the correct size and for the best price in the market.”
The website sets itself apart from other fashion websites by allowing its users to search its webshops for specific fashion items using search filters. Users are able to set product 'sale alerts' to receive notifications if items go on sale, and can also chose to save items in their personal account.
Fashiola also encourages its users to create their own fashion blogs or style books online to share with friends or fellow fashion lovers on social media platforms. The Dutch company already receives two million search queries on its websites in the Netherlands and Germany and 700,000 visitors per month.
“We still see an enormous growth potential abroad,” said Langenkamp previously to FashionUnited. “We can re-use part of our techniques, but we want our local staff to be able to respond to the ongoing trends and developments in our foreign markets.”
The online company previously had plans to expand into Belgium as well, but the launch of its local site has been postponed, due to complications with the dual languages spoken in the country. “We’re delighted to have expanded into the UK and know Fashiola is going to be a huge success with shoppers and fashion lovers here,” added Langenkamp.
Kleding.nl was founded in 2012 as a comparison site and search engine in one by the owners of InnoMedia, a developer of internet concept. During its first year the company generated an estimated 7.5 million euros worth of sales for its connected web-shops. This year the company expects to book a revenue growth of at least 35 percent.
