Laura Ashley retail sales down 0.9 percent

REPORT_ Laura Ashley Holdings released its interim management statement for the 19 weeks to June 8, 2014.
Company noted that its total retail sales fell by 0.9 percent year-on-year. However, like-for-like sales increased by 0.7 percent during the same period. Both fashion and home furnishings business recorded like for like sales growth.
A French language website was launched during April 2014 and a German language site will be launched soon. Since the start of the year, two retail stores were opened in Waltham Cross Homebase and Bishop Stortford Homebase. Three stores have been closed in Llanelli, Aberystwyth and Richmond during the same period.
Company’s franchise business continued to grow with six stores added since January 25, 2014, which include five openings in Japan, four in South Korea and closures of one store each in Taiwan, Belgium and Bulgaria. This takes the total to 292 shops in 31 countries.
