Italian label Les Copains has announced Graeme Black as its new creative director, replacing designer Alessandro

Dell'Acqua, who left in 2013.

The British designer, formerly of Hugo Boss and Giorgio Armani, will present his first collection for the label during Milan Fashion Week on February 21.

"His significant skills and sensibility in researching and developing knitwear were immediately a draw," Les Copains president and Chief Executive Officer Luca Bertolini told WWD. "His view of a refined and chic woman reflects the brand's DNA."

Black's relationship with the Italian label goes back a long way, after graduating from Edinburgh’s College of Art, he got his first internship at Les Copains. He then went onto work for John Galliano, Zandra Rhodes and Giorgio Armani, before becoming creative consultant at Salvatore Ferragamo in 2001. In 2005, he launched his eponymous label, which he discontinued in order to serve as creative consultant for the Boss Black collection.

He is currently creative director of Chinese luxury brand Erdos 1436 and he will continue to design for that label alongside his latest appointment.

Other designers to have headed up the Italian label include Antonio Marras and Antonio Berardi.
