Ask anyone in fashion which items would appear in their top ten list of iconic pieces, and the Levi's

501 jean would appear somewhere at the top of that list. Now celebrating its 140th year, Levi's have released 501 copies of a special edition book to celebrate the iconic 501 jean.

As the denim company itself aptly states, no other product has been worn, loved or re-imagined quite like Levi’s 501 jeans. Even today it remains a symbol of individuality and universality and is still a bestseller around the globe.

Last Spring, Levi's launched a campaign which paid tribute to 140 years of their 501 jeans. Fans of the brand were immortalized wearing the iconic style favored by well-known figures such as Andy Warhol who would pair his 501s with a blazer and a checked shirt, or Steve Jobs who wore the jeans every day with a roll-neck sweater.

The new book, called Levi’s 501 Interpretations will feature shots gathered on www.levis501.com, alongside images of famous faces such as actress Kate Bosworth and designer Olympia Le-Tan, by photographer Joe Manganiello. The book will be released in a run of only 501 copies in homage to the name of the legendary denim and will be available to buy in Levi's boutiques from August 5 for 50 euros.

In keeping with the 501 theme, the collector's editions will contain 501 special photographs and be available with 501 unique cover designs. The proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to students of California College of the Arts in San Francisco as part of the brand's drive to promote innovation, production and sustainable development within the arts.
