American denim and apparel brand Levi Strauss & Co has collaborated with The Woolmark

Company to unveil a range of wool-denim blend 501 jeans.

Made from Merino wool and cotton that has been intertwined, the 501 jeans look like conventional denim but, as Levi’s states, “they can do things no ordinary denim jeans can do, like keep you warmer in cold weather”.

The Woolmark Company CEO Stuart McCullough said: “We are delighted to partner with Levi Strauss & Co., a classic American brand famous for its quality, integrity and pioneering spirit. These values are completely in line with what The Woolmark Company represents across the world.

“By incorporating some Merino wool with the cotton, these wool denim 501 jeans feel warm to the touch, even in winter, and when wet feel drier on the skin and more comfortable than 100 percent cotton.”

The wool blended jeans are part of Levi’s holiday product line for 2013, which also includes men’s and women’s knitwear featuring Merino wool. The Levi’s wool denim 501 jeans are branded with the Wool Blend logo and will be available in the US, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and China.
