Italian fashion brand Liu Jo has firmly fixed its gaze on China: The company has entered

a master franchise agreement with China Resources Textiles and plans to open up to 200 new stores over the next five years in the country.

Liu Jo was founded by the Marchi brothers in 1995 and had its first exclusive distributor for China already in 2002. Since 2008, the company operates through its subsidiary Liu Jo China and currently has 46 monobrand stores and 6 outlets in China. According to a press release, the new agreement is part of the company’s strategy to “increase and consolidate its presence in the international market”.

China Resources Textiles is an investment and development company as well as a yarn exporter based in Hong Kong. For international brands, it is one of the most important players in China in the textile and fashion retail industry, representing brands such as Calvin Klein, Esprit, Alfred Dunhill, Kenzo, Givenchy and others.

“I am very proud of the successful agreement with such a relevant partner, and I am confident that this is a strategic move for Liu Jo in its global operations,” said Marco Marchi, the brand’s vice president and co-owner.

“We are very pleased to partner with a strong and well-respected organization like Liu Jo. We believe that the strategic alliance is a win-win arrangement under which both parties can leverage their own expertise to build a meaningful business for this iconic, global brand,” commented C.C. Wang, chairman of China Resources Textiles.
