London’s Heathrow Airport has been crowned the best airport

to shop for the fourth year running in the annual World Airport Awards.

The airport scooped the World’s Best Airport Shopping accolade ahead of Dubai's international airport and Amsterdam Schiphol, while fourth and fifth place went to Singapore Changi and Hong Kong international airport.

Heathrow’s commercial director Fidel Lopez said: "We’re delighted that our passengers have recognised Heathrow once again at the prestigious World Airport Awards for a fourth year in a row for our shopping. Later this year we will also begin to announce a range of exciting brands set to open in Terminal 2 as part of our work to remain on the cutting edge of retail trends."

The award was based on results from Skytrax’s annual passenger survey, which is completed in a 10-month period, covering over 388 airports and featuring feedback from more than 12 million passengers. The survey evaluates the total passenger experience across 39 airport service and product features, from arrival at an airport, through transit and departure processes to the boarding gate, as well as the shopping experience.

Edward Plaisted of Skytrax, which conducted the survey, added: “On a global basis, we are seeing an increasing amount of activity in developing airport shopping facilities and Heathrow continues to find itself as the premier airport in the World Airport survey.”

The overall winner of the World’s Best Airport award went to Singapore Changi.
