When questioned after Louis Vuitton SS 14 show if the company had chosen a replacement

for its former creative director, CEO and chairman of LVMH Bernard Arnault replied, “No decision is done. We have to, after the show, think and decide. But no decision will be made immediately.”

Since it was made official that Marc Jacobs would be stepping down from his position after 16 years at Louis Vuitton, rumors have been flourishing both offline and online as to whom his replacement would be. Arnault was previously accused of trying to lure former Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquiére away to take over the artistic helm at Louis Vuitton. Ghesquiére, who left the company last year November after 15 years, is currently involved in a lawsuit with Balenciaga. The label is suing the designer for a breach of contract and asking 7 million euros in damage claims.

Recently Men’s Folio, a Singapore-based men’s magazine stated in an article that a new creative director had been chosen: “Ghesquière beat out many contenders to fill in Marc Jacob’s shoes.” This news was picked up by others new sources and spread across the Internet, setting social media sites a buzzing with rumors once more. However, a spokesman from luxury house LVMH came forward Thursday morning and put all rumors to rest, as he firmly denied all speculation that Ghesquiére will be taken on as creative director at Louis Vuitton. “Nothing has been decided,” the spokesman told WWD. Despite this statement from LVMH, speculation still continues as who will be named the next creative director at Louis Vuitton.
