American retailer Macy’s is to host a pop-up exhibition
dedicated to the history of Madonna’s fashion for just one day at its department store in Century City, California. The pop-up, ‘Madonna's Fashion Evolution’, features some of the singer’s most famous looks, which have been handpicked by Madonna as her “favourite costumes” including her infamous Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra corset from her Blonde Ambition Tour, her Reinvention Tour ensemble by Christian Lacroix, and her ‘Like A Virgin’ wedding dress.
The exhibition, which has been curated and styled by Arianne Phillips, who has collaborated with the singer for years, will sit alongside the latest collection from the Material Girl line that Madonna created for Macy's with her daughter Lourdes.
"We are so thrilled to bring this unique experience exclusively to Macy's customers," said Martine Reardon, Macy's chief marketing officer. "An homage to Madonna's revolutionary style and influence on our Material Girl collection, 'Madonna's Fashion Evolution' pop-up exhibit offers a rare opportunity to see some of her most iconic looks curated together in a never-before-seen display."
Dari Marder chief marketing officer at Iconix Brand Group, Inc, which owns and licenses the Material Girl line, added: "It's a magical thing to bring all these iconic pieces together in one place. This will show customers how influential Madonna has been to fashion and how that influences Material Girl today.”
The Madonna's Fashion Evolution exhibition will take place at Macy's Century City store in California on April 25.
