Major retailers start early sales

Major retailers are bringing forward their summer sales to increase cash flow and achieve margins rather

than be sitting on stock. The season has left some retailers anxious of a repeat of last year.

Debenhams has accelerated its June sale by a week to next Thursday and rival department store House of Fraser is expected to join the sale early. John Lewis will also be forced to cut prices to match any products discounted by competitors to keep to its ‘never knowingly undersold’ promise.
