Premium children’s and maternity retailer Mamas & Papas has tapped the former
executive chairman of Aurora Fashions, Derek Lovelock as its interim chief executive.Lovelock, who joins the retailer with immediate effect, has experience in the children’s wear market and previously was chief executive officer of Sears Clothing from 1992 to 1999. “When I left Aurora I knew I wanted to find a role working with a strong brand and a gifted team and also a role that would challenge me,” said Lovelock to Retail Week. “This fits that criteria perfectly.”
Last month marked the first time the maternity specialist retailer, previously fully owned by husband and wife David and Luisa Scacchetti, sold a stake in the business, to help fund the label's expansion plans. “I’m delighted Derek is joining us. He brings a wealth of retail experience in general and also has an excellent knowledge and understanding of the nursery market,” add Scacchetti, chairman of Mamas & Papas.
“His expertise will be a huge asset to us as we draw up plans for the future that will help us to accelerate our global expansion ambitions.”
