Following the launch of what it claims is the world's

most sustainable suit, Marks & Spencer has now turned its focus to men's outerwear by creating its first sustainable men's coat.

The retailer said the materials had been carefully sourced to produce one of the greenest garments ever made at M&S.

In a classic double breasted style, the coat is made from recycled wool and cashmere, with the lining, thread, labels and buttons made from recycled polyester and shoulder pads made from recycled cotton. Mark Sumner, M&S Plan A Expert said: “We showed with the sustainable suit that it’s possible to make clothes that not only look great but are also sustainable. Like the suit, the coat has been several years in the making as we had to ensure every detail was carefully thought through.”

The coat will launch online and in two stores this month as part of the M&S Collezione menswear range.
