Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced his support of the British menswear industry, worth an estimated 10 billion

pounds to the UK economy, with a contest aimed at finding the most stylish postcode in the capital.

The ‘London Home of Menswear’ competition coincides with London Collections: Men, which is taking place from January 6-8, and is calling on London residents to take to social media using #londonmenswear to express why their London postcode is the most stylish.

The competition, which is offering prizes including a three piece suit by E.Tautz, shoes by Mr Hare and a tartan dog designed by Christopher Raeburn, is aiming to showcase why London is the home of menswear. The Mayor’s office is also hoping to draw attention to all areas of London as having a connection with menswear through its heritage map, which showcases that the UK gave the world iconic styles such as the three piece suit, wellington boots and the bowler hat.

Winners will be chosen by a panel that includes designer Patrick Grant of E Tautz and Norton & Son, and Dylan Jones, editor of GQ and chair of London Collections: Men.
