Singer Beyoncé has been named the honorary chairperson

of this year’s Costume Institute Gala alongside co-chairs Anna Wintour, designer Riccardo Tisci and actress Rooney Mara, according to reports.

Taking place on May 6 at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Met Gala celebrates the opening of the museum’s ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ exhibition, which will run from May 9 until August 11, 2013.

While it has yet to be confirmed which designer the singer will be collaborating with on the night, last year she attended in a sheer Givenchy Couture gown, and with the designer being her co-chair reports suggest that they are likely to partner again.

It will be a busy few days for the singer as the Met Gala falls in the middle of her Mrs Carter world tour and she will have to fly from the UK, where she is performing a number of dates in London and Manchester.
