Fashion model, stylist and designer L'Wren Scott was found dead from an apparent suicide on Monday.

The designer, who showed at New York Fashion Week, was scouted by photographer Bruce Weber at a Calvin Klein photo shoot, and shortly after left her native Utah for Paris, were she worked for designers Thierry Mugler and Chanel.

Her modelling career led to styling, and Scott moved to California in the early 1990s, initially in collaboration with photographer Herb Ritts, and later with Helmut Newton, Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Sorrenti. One of her early assignments was an ad campaign for Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds, eventually the world's top-selling celebrity fragrance.

Scott later designed costumes for several notable films, including Ocean's 13, Diabolique, and Eyes Wide Shut. She was also the official stylist to the Academy Awards Oscar's ceremony in 2000.

In 2006 Scott launched her first collection as a clothing designer called "Little Black Dress". The collection presented an array of black dresses, including her now famous "Headmistress" dress.
