UK denim brand Monkee Jeans, the first and only jeans label to be certified by the Soil Association for organic

standards and the Global Organic Textile Standard is amping up its eco-friendly credentials to include the PETA-approved Vegan logo.

In partnership with the animal rights group, Monkee Jeans has switched from offering leather jean patches to all animal-free, coated recycled cardboard patches, to add vegan friendly to its ethical brand.

"Monkee Genes is at the head of the pack when it comes to offering products that are as kind to the Earth as they are to animals", said PETA UK associate director Mimi Bekhechi. "The 'PETA-Approved Vegan' logo on the back of the new Monkee Genes jeans will let style-minded, eco-conscious consumers know that no animals were hurt or killed in the production of these chic trousers."

A spokesperson for Monkee Genes added: “Over the years we have been asked which do we rate as our highest priority. Creating jeans that are friendly to the planet? Ensuring people involved in the production process of our jeans are looked after? Having jeans that stand out as stylish and colourful? To be honest we rate each facet of our company just as highly, and we are delighted to be able to add supporting animal welfare to the list.”
