Names to look out for from GFW

Chloe Jones might have scooped top awards at Graduate Fashion Week but what was most

notable was the leap the event has made in its 21 years. It's 21 years since Burberry's Christopher Bailey won the debut student of the year award and took his first finely shod step on the road to becoming one of the most important people in British fashion. "We have the most exceptional design talent coming out of our colleges here in the UK," he says, "and I salute their energy, their talent, and their well-earned and deserved global reputation."

This year more than 1,000 students from 42 universities took part, exhibiting their work to buyers, designers and the general fashion-curious public, with 20 catwalk shows and a pop-up shop where visitors can buy graduate designs off the peg. The awards are a glimpse into fashion's future (Stella McCartney won in 1995).
