Lady Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti is leaving Mugler, after just over two years as creative

director for the French fashion house.

Hired in September 2010 to revive the brands fashion line, Formichetti unveiled his first collection for the label for Autumn/Winter 2011, which featured a catwalk performance from Lady Gaga.

Joel Palix, president of Clarins Fragrance Group and director general of Mugler, said that Formichetti has been instrumental in raising the brands profile and “attracting a new audience” and that the stylist-turned-designer would always be a “historical part of the Mugler legacy and known as the force that catapulted us forward”.

In a statement sent to The Associated Press, Formichetti commented: “I have had a great time working in Paris with Mugler over the last two years. It was a challenge to re-invigorate the house for a new generation.”

As yet there is no word on who will succeed Formichetti as creative director, but according to WWD the brand is expected to release a “new strategic plan” soon - one that will build "on its highly successful legacy in fragrance and its new momentum in fashion".
