London fashion week designer Mary Katrantzou will not be

launching a pre collection this season. The designer, who creates over 40 prints in a collection per season, stated it takes an average of four days to finish a print, meaning it requires 160 days a season to finish a collection. That doesn't leave much room for adding a pre collection.

The designer told Vogue.co.uk that the brand would be looking to expand the team in order to be able to add a second collection next season.

For many brands and designers the pre collection offers greater sales and sell-thrus, because product stays longer on the shop floor and deliveries are earlier in the season. Mainline pieces tend to be more expensive as they are produced as catwalk looks whereas the pre collections tend to be more wearable.
