Footwear retailer Office has apologised to customers and urged them to change their passwords after revealing its website

had suffered a security breach.

Just a week after hackers’ targeted eBay, Office was urging its customers via email to change their passwords, while adding that no credit card, debit card or PayPal details had been comprised. However, the hackers had access to its customers’ personal details including name, address, email address and Office account password for accounts created before August 2013.

The shoe store has reset all the passwords of its customers affected, so next time they log in they will be asked to change their password. The retailer also recommended that its customers also change passwords on other sites if they are the same as those used on the Office site.

Office chief executive Brian McCluskey said: "I can confirm that the Office website has been the subject of a security breach. We take such a threat very seriously and have been in communication with our customers to advise them of the matter.

“Our customers remain our number one priority and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure that our website remains secure.”
