Olsen names managing director

German womenswear brand Olsen has appointed Michael Simon as managing

director, following the brand’s acquisition by Veldhoven Group.

Simon has twenty years experience in the fashion and retail industry, and he has previously held positions as managing director of sales and marketing at Gelco, chief operating officer at S.Oliver and was chief executive at Gardeur. In addition to his managing director role, Simon will also become a member of the Veldhoven Group board of directors.

Commenting on his appointment, Simon said: “By becoming part of the Veldhoven Group, Olsen has averted bankruptcy proceedings. As a team we have the ambition to regain and even improve the position Olsen has in the marketplace.”

Veldhoven Group, which also owns brands including Sandwich, Turnover and Dept, acquired Olsen on December 1. The womenswear brand filed for insolvency in August after a potential investor dropped out at the eleventh hour and the acquisition has secured its long term future.
