French designer Julien Dossena has been appointed creative

director of fashion house Paco Rabanne, marking the fashion label’s third designer in three years.

Dossena will head up the women's ready-to-wear brand, replacing Lydia Maurer who exited the label in May this year after only two seasons with the fashion house.

"We are delighted to welcome Julien Dossena," a statement from Paco Rabanne said. "His radical and innovative interpretation of the Paco Rabanne style will allow us to firmly establish our collections in the world of the most avant-garde and desirable brands on the market."

A graduate of La Cambre in Brussels, the 30-year-old fashion designer previously worked under Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, before joining Paco Rabanne in early 2013 to assist the then-creative director Lydia Maurer with the label's autumn/winter 2013 collection.

"I'm delighted to be joining this house, which boasts a unique heritage," Dossena told WWD. "I have always been fascinated by the forward-thinking attitude and innovative approach distinct to Paco Rabanne. It's now a great honour to be appointed its creative director."
