Vegan shoe company Beyond Skin has teamed up with Peta
to launch a design contest to create an eco and animal friendly shoe. Peta, Beyond Skin and presenter Laura Whitmore will select the winning design, which will be incorporated into the company’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection."I truly believe that the future of fashion lies in sustainable, cruelty-free materials, and companies like Beyond Skin and organizations like Peta are leading the way in creating awareness", said Whitmore. "I am simply looking for ambitious young designers to put their best vegan foot forward and show me their idea for a new cruelty-free pump, flat, bootie or wedge. This competition is their chance to be a part of the trend towards compassionate fashion."
Beyond Skin and Peta are committed to increasing awareness surrounding animal treatment, and the shoe company only uses animal-free, recyclable materials in their products. Other designers and retailers are choosing to become more eco and animal friendly, such as Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood and H&M, in answer to the growing demand for animal and eco friendly fashion.
Contestants who wish to enter the competition have until the 13th of December to upload their designs to Peta.org.uk.
