Pierre Cardin returns to the catwalk

Pierre Cardin is to return to the catwalk, showing a menswear collection in Paris after he

 first debuted 65 years ago.

The designer, who turns 90 this week, will celebrate with a show on July 7th.

“This is a comeback for me, and it’s a great pleasure,” said Cardin in an interview with AFP. “I hadn’t shown a man’s line in Paris for a very long time. It’s a chance to present my style, my personality, what made my name”. The new collection remains faithful to the futuristic theme, which has been a favorite of the designer’s since the 1960’s.

Pierre Cardin may have tarnished his image as a luxury brand, after the many global licensing deals saturated its name. Everything from washing machines to bed linen can be bought under the Pierre Cardin name.
