Pitti Uomo, the menswear trade show, has confirmed that Diesel Black Gold under the creative director

of Andreas Melbostad will be the menswear guest designer at the 85th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo.

Melbostad, who was named global creative director of the Diesel Black Gold line last month, adding the menswear collection to his current role as womenswear director, will present his debut men’s collection for the brand at the trade event in January.

“The arrival of Andreas Melbostad as the creative director of Diesel Black Gold immediately gave the women’s collection a considerable boost,” explained Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. “So as soon as we heard that he would also be working on the men’s side, and expecting an underlying coherence between the two collections, we decided to suggest that Diesel Black Gold makes its debut in Florence as the Menswear Guest of Pitti Uomo in January 2014.”

Melbostad, said: "It is an honour to present my first Diesel Black Gold men's collection at Pitti. It is an unique opportunity to showcase the new cohesive vision for the line, expressing its strong distinctive voice. I will enforce the core codes of the collection with my own sensibility and hand."

Renzo Rosso, OTB president, added: "I strongly believe in the Italian Fashion System, and in the promotion of the Italian excellence. Therefore I am particularly glad Pitti chose Diesel Black Gold as this season's special event, as Pitti is among the best international fashion moments and our contemporary line is perfectly reflected in its creative values.”

Last week it was revealed that Barbara Casasola will be the Womenswear Guest at Pitti Immagine, which takes place in Florence on January 7-10.
