Plans submitted for Shoreditch retail development

Plans have been submitted to Hackney Council for a new 150,000

sq ft retail and mixed use development in London's Shoreditch.
If plans are approved, the proposed 'Shoreditch Village' project will be the first retail permanent regeneration project in the area since the completion of new Spitalfields Market in 2005.

Situated on a site underneath the railway viaduct opposite Shoreditch High Street station, the scheme has been designed by architects Ellis Miller and will preserve listed buildings on the site.

The owners said that they are targeting more unusual brands and sub-brands for the development in line with the "edgy aspirational stores that typify the streets and culture of Shoreditch".

Dominic White of the family owners, explained: "This project encapsulates Shoreditch’s unique character, providing a new destination for visitors and local residents alike to move to, work, shop, eat or simply enjoy.

"An extension of the vibrant area around BoxPark, Shoreditch House, the Albion and Boundary. Shoreditch Village is right in the heart of London’s creative district. The fragmented nature of property ownership in Shoreditch adds to its’ unique character, and our scheme will reflect the progressive and highly eclectic mix of the area."
