Primark eyes Birmingham shopping center Pavilions

After experiencing an ‘outstanding’ year for the year to September,
Primark confirmed rumors circulating that it hopes to purchase the lease for the Birmingham shopping mall Pavilions. The value retailer also plans to rent out an estimated 100,000 square feet of space to other retailers.“We have been in discussions about the Pavilion, although no deal has been done yet,” said George Weston, CEO of parent corporation Associated British Foods to Drapers. He added that Primark hopes to open up a 150,00 square foot store in the Pavilion in, similar to the flagship stores found in Manchester, Oxford Street in London and Newcastle.
Primark currently has two shop locations in Birmingham, including a store in shopping center bullring. With the addition of the store in Pavilions, Primark will offer over nine million square feet of selling retail space.
