TV shopping channel QVC has moved to a new purpose-built £33.6

million media and commerce centre at Chiswick Park in west London.

QVC’s flagship storefront, which is 13,000 square metres over five levels, has been created specifically for the company and will accommodate QVC’s continued expansion.

Dermot Boyd, CEO of QVC UK, explained: "We had outgrown our previous home in Battersea, where we had been since our first broadcast in October 1993, when QVC was the only live shopping channel in the United Kingdom.

"As a retailer and a live TV broadcaster, we have a large number of complex business procedures that have been taken into account in the design of our new storefront. The blank canvas that Chiswick Park offered has allowed us to ergonomically design the new building with these unique multi-media retail needs in mind, vastly improving the flow of products from our London warehouse to the studios."

The new building features state-of-the-art studios to accommodate the 17 hours of live TV broadcast every day. In addition, QVC has rebuilt its network infrastructure to accommodate its bespoke systems, including those which provide real time sales information.

Boyd added: "The teams involved, both internal and external, have worked tirelessly to ensure that there has been a seamless transfer from our old building where our live broadcast finished at 02:00 this morning to here. As the lights go off in Battersea, they are straight back on at our new home in Chiswick. This investment demonstrates our commitment to providing our viewers with the highest level of broadcast and service, and our employees with a vastly improved working environment.
