Tommy Nutter opened his bespoke tailoring boutique on Savile Row in 1969. To celebrate the life

of the rebel on the 'Row', the Fashion and Textile Museum is showcasing an overview exhibition from 20th May until 22nd October 2011.

Together with master cutter Edward Sexton, Nutter combined styling with techniques that form the base of today’s Savile Row. Cilla Black, James Vallance White, and Peter Brown, the Beatles’ executive, financed the store, the place where bespoke tailoring of creative types who were after their own shape and style started.

Besides the Nutter style, his contribution to the Savile Row company will be explored in the ‘Rebel on the Row’ exhibition. A selection of suits will be on display in a social and historical context from the 60s to the 90s.
