The 25th Bread & Butter – tradeshow for selected brands,

which took place from 6-8 July, 2011 for the fifth time on the historic grounds of the Berlin-Tempelhof Airport, is reporting outstanding results. The tradeshow, which started out in 2001 as an off-show for selected brands in Cologne, celebrated its ten-year anniversary under the motto 'The Bread & Butter Supershow’.

Bread & Butter presented another balanced and strong exhibitor portfolio, distinguished once again by an increase in quality. Around 580 exhibitors, the leading, market-relevant brands, labels and designers of the Street and Urbanwear market, attended the leading international tradeshow, where they presented their new collections for the Spring/Summer 2012 season to the professional audience.

Karl-Heinz Müller, Managing Director of Bread & Butter GmbH: "It's not only named 'Supershow', it really was a super show! I'm extremely satisfied with the event, and both visitors and exhibitors were able to report excellent results at Bread & Butter. To sum it all up, the expectations, realisation and results of Bread & Butter stand for 'best brands, best buyers, best business'!"

Visitor Structure
'The Bread & Butter Supershow reported the highest number of visitors since the return of Bread & Butter to Berlin. Approximately 60% of foreign professional visitors from around 100 countries guaranteed the continued international flair at Bread & Butter. There was a distinctive rise in the number of visitors from BeNeLux, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Austria and Switzerland. Visitor numbers from Eastern European countries including Russia increased significantly. Professional visitors from North America were, as usual, strongly represented at Bread & Butter.

Bread & Butter Supernights
For the first time the public was specifically invited to be a part of B&B at Tempelhof Airport during the three evening events, the Bread & Butter Supernights and to join in with the birthday celebrations. 10,000 guests attended the grandopening evening with live concerts by Mos Def, Airbourne and Deichkind. The three Bread & Butter "all-stars" Drykorn, Levi's and Red Wing Shoes were each honoured for their participation in all 25 Bread & Butter events so far with a giant B. For providing the inspiration behind the founding of Bread & Butter ten years ago adidas received a special prize: the Bread & Butter bear. A 350kg birthday cake standing at 1.60m tall was another surprise of the evening. At 11.30pm the surprising finale followed: accompanied by a minute-long firework display, the 30-metre tall X construction, symbolising the past decade of Bread & Butter , was set ablaze – and with this the symbolic foundation stone for the next ten years was laid.

Karl-Heinz Müller: "The fantastic Bread & Butter Opening Party on Tuesday evening was a huge success! It was a very good decision to invite the public to the evening events – this is a concept we will be continuing in the future. Next summer we'll be setting the bar even higher."

On the whole, Berlin's weather god turned out to be cooperative: the Bread & Butter Supershow was accompanied by summery temperatures and constant sunshine. Due to a storm warning on Wednesday evening, however, Bread & Butter had no choice but to ask the visitors to leave the outside area as a precautionary measure – but fortunately the thunderstorm narrowly missed Berlin. At the third Bread & Butter Supernight on Thursday evening thousands of professional visitors, exhibitors and Berliners turned up in their droves to attend the one-off live Daft Punk performance by DJ Phono.

Bread & Butter Shopping Nights
The premiere of the Bread & butter Shopping Nights was also celebrated and well received by Berlin shoppers: more than 100 shops in Berlin-Mitte extended their opening hours on Wednesday and Thursday evening until 10pm. The varied activities of the participating stores and several store openings guaranteed consistently high numbers of visitors on the streets around Hackescher Markt and in the individual stores. Bread & Butter will continue this initiative in January 2012.

Bread & Butter Berlin
Karl-Heinz Müller concludes: "I cannot emphasise it enough: the return of Bread & Butter to Berlin was the best decision. For Bread & Butter, Berlin is the ultimate city! The combination of the listed Tempelhof Airport as an event location unlike any other in the world, Berlin as a creative hub of urban casualwear and Bread & Butter results in an unbeatable symbiosis. With the return of Bread & Butter, Berlin has well and truly established itself as international fashion location."
