River Island opens store in Stockholm

British fashion chain River Island has opened its first Scandinavia store in Sweden within the Gallerian shopping

centre in Stockholm.

Located in a 760 square foot unit, River Island sits across from retailers including Hollister, Vera Moda and H&M, in a shopping centre that has claims to have a daily footfall of 50,000. The Swedish flagship will house both women’s and men’s collections, as well as accessories such as bags and shoes.

Commenting on the opening, a River Island spokesperson said: “We believe that Gallerian will offer us the best stage to launch to the fast growing Swedish market with its impressive footfall and central location.”

Karolin Forsling head of retail and development from property owner and developer AMF Fastigheter, owners of the Gallerian, added: “We see River Island’s iconic offer as a perfect match for Gallerian’s ‘fast fashion’ concept.”

River Island operates across 320 stores in 14 countries.
