Royal Mail is preparing to launch its Sunday opening pilot this weekend,
where 100 of its delivery offices across the UK will be open. Currently, Royal Mail's network of 1,400 delivery offices are open six days a week, with the trial extending the opening of selected offices to seven days a week.In addition, 1,600 Post Office branches will now be open on a Sunday as well. “I am delighted to pilot Sunday afternoon opening at around 100 of our delivery offices across the UK with the highest parcel volumes, and Sunday deliveries,” commented Nick Landon, Managing Director of Royal Mail Parcels.
Royal Mail is also set to begin trialling Sunday deliveries to addresses within the M25 motorway this weekend. “We are continuing to be more customer responsive and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.”
The extended opening hours and addition of Sunday deliveries is part of Royal Mail's on-going programme to offer more flexibility to people who are not at home when an delivery attempt is made. Last month, Royal Mail announced the roll out of its “click and collect” local collection service with Post Office to 20,000 small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) across the UK.
