British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has advanced

that it will invest significantly in relauching its clothing brand, Tu. Launched in 2004, the fashion brand will be rolled out across 395 stores nationwide by the end of the year.

"After an outstanding performance over the past couple of years, it's the right time for a significant investment in the brand," Sainsbury's clothing director James Brown told 'The Scotsman'.

As per last registered figures, Tu range generated record annual sales of 680 million pounds last year after launching in 160 shops in 2004. In the same vein, last October Sainsbury’s extended its clothing design partnership with fashion expert Gok Wan who started designing womenswear for the supermarket in 2011.

Sainsbury's thus becomes the last within its trade to deliver a stronger clothing proposition, following the steps of other peers such as Marks & Spencer and Tesco.
