Sainsbury's clothing line continues to grow

Supermarket giant Sainsbury's general merchandise and clothing divisions continue to grow, despite like-for-like retail sales

at stores (excluding fuel) declining 1.1 percent in the three months to 7 June.

In particular, Sainsbury's TU clothing line was highlighted for “performing well” during the first quarter. Although the supermarket giant did not reveal exact numbers, Justin King, CEO noted that its clothing business delivered “double digit like-for-like sales growth.”

Earlier this week Sainsbury's announced plans begin selling its clothing brand TU online, with a trial taking place in the Midlands from August onwards.
