Scottish Fashion Awards announces nominees

The Scottish Fashion Awards has announced the
nominees for the 8th annual event, which is set to take place at Dover House in London, co-hosted by the Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore MP, and awards founder Dr Tessa Hartmann.This year’s nominees include Jonathan Saunders, Holly Fulton, Christopher Kane and Louise Gray for ‘Scottish Designer of the Year’, while Chanel, Victoria Beckham, Lou Dalton, Moncler Gamme Bleu and Moschino have been nominated for’ International Designer of the Year’ for best use of a Scottish fabric or Scottish inspired collection.
Taking place on October 9, there will be 14 awards given out on the night including ‘Scottish Textile Brand/Textile Designer of the Year’, which sees designers Alice Palmer and Rosie Sudgen up against Esk, Dhu, Eribe and Brora, and a prize for ‘Scottish Young Designer of the Year’.
There will also be a series of special awards including the 'Hall of Fame, 'Fashion Ambassador', 'Scottish Fashion Innovator of the Year' and a new 'Founders Award'.
Commenting on the new venue, awards founder Hartmann said: "We've hosted this event in Scottish castles, contemporary and architecturally renowned Scottish buildings in Stirling and Glasgow over the last 7 years.
“To showcase the nation’s top talent in the UK's fashion capital London in 2013, will allow an even wider audience to become acquainted with what we have to offer as 'Fashion Scotland' and enable the talent to network with the UK's top industry players, fashion editors and buyers.”
