Selfridges’ Alannah Weston named deputy chairman

Alannah Weston, currently creative director of Selfridges, has been named deputy
chairman of the department store group.The position, a new role at the retail group, will see Weston report into her father, Selfridges Group chairman Galen Weston, and provide “strategic advice and creative counsel” across the group’s portfolio of stores, which consists of Brown Thomas in Ireland, De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands, Holt Renfrew in Canada, and Selfridges in the UK.
Weston has served as creative director at Selfridges since 2004 and prior to that she was the international head of press at Burberry.
Commenting on the appointment, Galen Weston said: “I would like to congratulate both Alannah and the creative team at Selfridges for their huge contribution to our success and look forward to the new and exciting opportunities ahead.”
Replacing Weston as creative director of the luxury department store will be Linda Hewson, currently director of creative and windows, and she will reporting to UK managing director Anne Pitcher.
