Luxury department store Selfridges has promoted Sebastian Manes

to the newly-created role of buying and merchandising director.

Previously responsible for womenswear, childrenswear and accessories buying, Manes will now oversee the menswear, home and leisure buying, following the departure of Selfridges veteran David Walker-Smith, who left the retailer in December 2012.

Manes joined the department store in 2003 as a senior accessories buyer and has risen through the ranks to his current role. In his new role, he will continue to report into Selfridges managing director Anne Pitcher.
