Delivery service Shutl, which offers to deliver orders in as little as 90 minutes from brands

such as Warehouse, Oasis and Karen Millen, has released data from its 2011 holiday period. The company is reporting a surge of 4,385 per cent in the number of people using the Shutl service via a mobile device, with iPads proving to be the most popular, accounting for 77 per cent of all mobile traffic.

51 per cent of all peak pre-Christmas delivers happened over a 10-day period, from December 14-23. The service also noted that 38 of the 40 days leading up to Christmas saw a higher proportion of men using the service; this is compared to pre-peak when men only accounting for 36 per cent of Shutl orders.

Overall 2011 has been very successful for Shutl, with the company reporting a 155 per cent increase in the availability of Shutl, 600k shoppers were offered Shutl delivery.  This is the combined result of more retailers offering the service and the successful completion of company’s first phase of expansion beyond London. In addition, 2,570 per cent more shoppers chose to use Shutl than in 2010.

“It has been a merry Christmas for Shutl, the retailers we serve and our courier partners.  We take it as an encouraging sign for 2012 that so many people preferred to end 2011 shopping rather than sleeping!” said Tom Allason, Founder and CEO of Shutl.  “We’re already working hard to make Shutl available to as many shoppers as possible in time for Christmas 2012.”
