Simon Spurr exits namesake brand

Menswear designer Simon Spurr has reportedly left his label. The UK-born US-based

designer sold his autumn winter 2012 collection in January with European agent Futurenet, but has not commented on why he is leaving his namesake brand.

The company suffered losses when accounts such as Mr Porter decided to not continue to stock the brand, however there may have been a falling out between management and investors.

Simon Spurr co-founded this brand with partner Judd Nydes in 2006 and was nominated for the CFDA's 2012 Menswear Designer of the Year award just last week.

"At this moment, I'm not at liberty to say anything about what's gone on," he told WWD in an email.

Spurr studied fashion at Middlesex University and worked under Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent. He then went to New York and worked for Calvin Klein and in 2003 joined Ralph Lauren as director of the brand's Red and Purple labels.
