Smythson, the iconic British luxury leather goods brand, has announced the appointment

of Rory O’Hanlon to the new position of Design Director, effective immediately.

Joining Smythson from American accessories brand, Coach, O’Hanlon will be responsible for the design direction across all product categories, and has been appointed to “providing strong leadership” to the Smythson design team.

Prior to his role as divisional vice president at Coach, he designed both men’s and women’s product for some of the world’s most prominent luxury brands, including Céline, Jil Sander, Burberry and Gucci.

Commenting on the appointment, Andy Janowski, Smythson CEO, said: “I am thrilled that Rory is taking the lead in design for Smythson. The new position of Design Director will be instrumental in fulfilling our strategic objectives and supporting long-term growth for the brand.

“Rory’s creativity and vast experience in the luxury accessories industry will be critical to unleashing the brand’s innate potential and consolidating Smythson as the iconic British luxury leather goods brand.”

Established in 1887, Smythson has become one of Britain’s foremost luxury brands, and this year the company is celebrating its 125th anniversary.
